ACC Regents Review Maintenance Project Schedule
Alvin Community College regents received an update on the schedule for campus improvements during their regular meeting on July 25. The schedule will include the brief closure of some facilities throughout the next year as crews upgrade chilllers and air handling equipment, renovate buildings, upgrade IT infrastructure and more. The closures will require some college staff to temporarily move to other facilities. The process will begin in 2020.The projects are part of the $25 million maintenance tax notes approved last year.

In other action, regents reviewed the proposed 2019-20 fiscal year budget. The proposed $34 million budget is a 3.38 percent increase from the current fiscal year budget and includes a possible salary increase for employees, adjustments to ten staff positions and funds for new programs.
Regents are set to vote on the final budget at their August meeting.
    The board also
-approved the hiring of new personnel including instructors for Math, Biology, Law Enforcement and a Distance Education coordinator
-approved contract renewal for NCLEX preparation services
