ACC Regents Approve Construction Contract
Alvin Community College regents unanimously approved a $13.45 million contract during their meeting on January 9 to carry out upgrades from the 2018 Maintenance Bond Project.
The contract with O’Donnell/Snider Construction will fund the majority of the construction as part of the Maintenance Bond Project. The proposed contract for the changes were $80,000 under budget.
The list of projects includes chiller replacements, upgrades of air handling equipment, renovations to campus facilities, IT infrastructure upgrades and more.
Board Chair Mike Pyburn said he was pleased with the bidding process and the contract presented to the regents.
“This went much better than we expected,” he said.
In other action, regents approved an audit which included an “unmodified” opinion for the 2018-19 fiscal year.
The audit was conducted by the Belt, Harris and Pechacek firm. Auditors stated the college maintains sound fiscal policy.
“We have issued a clean and unmodified opinion,” said auditor Mike Brotherton. “That is our opinion that the financials are free of any material misstatements.”
Regents unanimously approved to place $1.14 million from unrestricted fund balance to institutional reserve.
ACC Foundation President Shirley Brothers also delivered an annual report for the past fiscal year. Brothers spoke about the Foundation’s impact on students, faculty and staff. During the 2018-19 fiscal year, the Foundation awarded more than $131,000 in scholarships, grants and more.
