ACC Offers Skills to Succeed
Alvin Community College is now offering free seminars for students who need assistance with skills to pursue and obtain a career.
The Skills to Succeed Workshops will be offered throughout the summer in a variety of topics including resume writing, interview skills and preparation, job searching, career exploration and more.
“Our goal is to provide services that produce workforce ready Alvin Community College students,” said Karen Edwards, ACC Human Resources director. “The Skills to Succeed Academy offers self-paced online training to strengthen interviewing skills and techniques to develop impressive resumes.”
The Skills to Succeed Academy Workshops are funded by a $13,200 grant from the American Association of Community Colleges and the Accenture LLP. ACC was one of three colleges throughout the country to receive the grant.
“We are excited to partner with AACC and Accenture on this great opportunity,” Edwards said.
Skills to Succeed workshops are designed to improve a student’s employability. The program includes a component to analyze the student participation in order to further improve its offerings.
The seminars are offered now until August 14 on Mondays and Wednesdays. Sessions are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in A-226.
