Businesses Help Students Find Career Path
Local industry leaders worked to help current and potential Alvin Community College students find a career path during the Super Saturday Registration and Career Exploration Blitz on August 17.
Approximately 100 students spoke with representatives from several petrochemical firms, construction companies and government agencies including: Dow Chemical, BASF, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, INEOS Inc., TEAM Industrial Services, Zachary Group, AGCM Inc. and Workforce Solutions.
Representatives from ACC programs were also at the Career Exploration Blitz to assist students with finding a career path.
The event is funded by a $6,900 grant from Workforce Solutions.
Students visited with the employers in the Student Center and offered a career assessment.  They also participated in activities and demonstrations from ACC programs to learn more about the career pathways to high-demand jobs.
The event was held in conjunction with the fall Super Saturday Registration Blitz.
