TX DOT RECONSRUCTION AND WIDENING PROJECT
FM 518 FROM SH 288 TO SH 35
TxDOT is proposing the reconstruction and widening of FM 518 from SH 288 to SH 35 in Brazoria County, Texas. The project is needed because current and projected growth in the area has caused traffic demand to increase. The existing roadway is designed with two-way left-turn lanes, and lack of consistent raised medians throughout the project limits, which has resulted in high crash numbers at intersections and other conflict points.
The purpose of the proposed project is to accommodate future anticipated traffic demand and growth in the region, as well as to improve safety and mobility by constructing a divided roadway with raised medians.

The University of Houston-Clear Lake at Pearland has an exciting new opportunity for nurses who are seeking to renew licensure. This summer, they will introduce a nursing re-entry continuing education course including a 5-week didactic component and a 5-week clinical component. This 10-week experience meets the criteria of the Texas Board of Nurses for nursing re-entry completion which will result in the renewal of the RN license. Didactic sessions will feature hybrid (online and face-to-face) instruction in our new, state-of-the-art nursing classrooms and simulation lab in our newly opened Health Sciences building at Pearland. Clinical rotations will be arranged with area hospitals to fulfill the Texas Board of Nursing’s mandatory clinical hour requirement. Students may complete both components for $1100, or students who have completed the didactic component through Austin Community College may transfer in to the clinical component for $350. All students will pay an additional fee of $100 for a discounted bundle of textbooks to be provided by the program.
